Maintain equipment according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Conveyor maintenance; electrical distribution and control cable installation – jointing and termination; electrical motor
installation and replacement; gully box installation and maintenance; medium voltage protection systems; medium
voltage switching; motor control centre and distribution board installation; overhead crane maintenance; installation
of lighting systems; maintenance of electrical equipment (e.g. MV and LV switchgear; electrical motors; lighting
systems); MCC panels; electrical distribution boards
Tend to electrical breakdowns on trackless machinery
Responsible for trade related administration
Conduct on-the-job training for allocated apprentices
Support the Health and Safety Representative
Required to perform other duties that may be reasonably expected from you within the company from time to time
Work rotational shifts, overtime, do standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise
Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done
Required to perform other duties that may reasonably be expected within the Company from time to time.
Ensure compliance to Statutory requirements and Petra’s Diamonds Mine Policies, Procedures and Code of Practice
N2 Certificate or equivalent qualification
Qualified Electrician Trade Certificate through a recognised institution and apprenticeship**
3 years post Apprenticeship/Qualification experience as an Electrician
Valid Drivers’ License
** Candidates holding a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test, where the learning route is not specified on the Certificate, must submit the
following: Statement of results issued by an accredited MQA trade test centre as well as evidence of training conducted at a technical
training centre (e.g. Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks). Should these documents not be submitted the application will not be
considered. Candidates holding S28 Trade Test certificates from non-Mining Sector centres will not be considered.
